Live Art, Childhood and Gender:
presented by Live Collision and Forced Entertainment
This practical workshop will be led by Hester Chillingworth, Forced Entertainment’s Creative Producer (Participation & Engagement), and will investigate how tropes of childhood function in the company’s work. The group will think together about how ‘play’ can be used as a subversive act and how it can be deployed to disrupt expectation and systemic power dynamics, and to open up questions of difference and identity in live performance work. Hester will then lead the group in considering and discovering how the above might relate to the performance of gender, and how bringing some things often related to childhood into performance, can be a method of queering the stage.
