Africanfuturism meets sensual pop with BLACKMAGICRAWR
Emerging from a winter nestled in the heart of Ireland, the group comprising Cami, Osaro, Renn & Sal (music and visual production) delve into uncharted territories, melding Afro-Futurism with tantalizing pop vibes. As spring blossoms, BLACKMAGICRAWR will envelop us in a blaze of sonic intimacy that will leave us rocking to our core, unleashing a symphony of industrial beats and avant-garde expressions, promising an electrifying journey into the depths of sonic sensuality.
BLACKMAGICRAWR, abbreviated as BMR, originates as an Irish African futurist collective established in Dublin in 2021. Its core members include Renn (vocals and performer), Cami (vocals and performer), Osaro (vocals and performer), and Sal (music producer). The genesis of BLACKMAGICRAWR traces back to their collaboration for Beaulah Ezeugo’s “Holy Terrain” exhibition at the Goethe Institut in 2021. Their initial project, a meditative standalone piece, garnered significant acclaim from audiences, sparking the birth of the group.
At the Dublin Digital Radios (DDR) Alternating Current Festival in 2022, BLACKMAGICRAWR presented a captivating live musical performance infused with themes of biblical magic and water elements. Through ethereal vocals, structured body movements, and live visuals, their composition evoked a trance-like atmosphere.
BLACKMAGICRAWR blends elements of Africanfuturism with sensual pop, showcasing a unique fusion of cultural influences. Emerging from a period of winter hibernation, the collective, comprised of Cami, Osaro, Renn, and Sal, is currently engaged in an exploration of their innermost thoughts through industrial rhythms and movement.
Having performed in CCI Paris, Goethe, Dublin Fringe Festival, The complex and IMMA. BLACKMAGICRAWR promises to envelop audiences in a whirlwind of sonic intimacy, leaving them deeply moved and resonating to their core.
