Curator in Residence
UMUTI:MA
Live Collision welcomes Curator in Residence, UMUTI:MA, a Dublin-based nomadic art gallery dedicated to amplifying the depth and diversity of African contemporary art.
Opening the festival with a salon-style conversation, Live Art as Resistance, they will create space for dialogue and critical exchange, drawing connections between Live Art, diasporic narratives, and radical forms of storytelling. Throughout the festival, they will engage with performances, artists, and audiences, while also exploring the LADA Study Boxes and archive—bridging past and present practices. Immersed in the rhythm of the festival, they will navigate their own curatorial research alongside the dynamic energy of Live Collision, shaping new perspectives on liveness, identity, and cultural discourse.
About the Artist
UMUTI:MA is a Dublin-based nomadic art gallery dedicated to celebrating the depth and diversity of African contemporary art. As a vibrant cultural hub, we aim to amplify the voices and perspectives of African artists and artists of African descent, providing them with a platform to share their stories, experiences, and creativity with the world.
At UMUTI:MA, we curate visual art exhibitions that encompass a wide array of mediums, from evocative photography and striking paintings to groundbreaking 3D renderings, sculptures, and video art. Beyond exhibitions, we also organize film screenings and collaborate with corporate partners to integrate art into everyday spaces.
More than just an art gallery, UMUTI:MA is a movement—committed to fostering inclusivity, representation, and cultural dialogue. Through community partnerships, cultural events, and accessible programming like guided tours, workshops, and panel discussions, we strive to make the art world approachable and reflective of Dublin’s diverse population.
