Artist Workshop by Blast Theory

Live Collision, Create and Dublin City Council Arts Office are delighted to announce a unique workshop opportunity for artists led by internationally renowned artists Blast Theory. This workshop is made possible with additional support from The Lir – Ireland’s National Academy of Dramatic Arts, British Council Ireland and the Science Gallery, Dublin.

The workshop will be practical in nature and provide an insight into creating strategies for engaging in meaningful collaborations and dialogues through technology.  This workshop is ideal for artists interested in themes around engaging with networks / online / digital communities in the creation of contemporary work.  Over the course of the day you will engage with both the practical technological elements as well more conceptual themes around what constitutes communities in a networked society.  The workshop will be led by Blast Theory founder member, Ju Row Farr.

Building out and around from past BLAST THEORY projects and projects in development about personality profiling, the workshop will look at structuring and creative strategies for challenging/complex projects using conversations, questions and asymmetrical participation. How do you create meaningful dialogues from one person to many? How can conversations which are automated be designed to feel personal and as real as possible? And how can questions or questionnaires be used to build the arc of a work?

Examples of projects we may look at include I’d Hide You, My Neck Of The Woods, Ivy4Evr, A Machine To See With and Ulrike And Eamon Compliant.

The workshop will be practical and generate material, strategies and practical suggestions. It will be suitable for all types of creative students from media studies and visual art, through to architecture and game design.
